What is the Fat Flush Diet Plan?

The Fat Flush Diet Plan is a book published by the “first lady of nutrition” Ann Louise Gittleman based on the theory that eating more often with the right food combinations will lead to the burning of fat. Primarily, the fat flush diet is intended mainly for detoxification. But it will also increase the body’s metabolism that result to fat loss.

The Diet at a Glance

Generally, the fat flush diet is a low-carbohydrate, calorie-restricted meal plan consisting of ingredients that promote fat and water loss. There are three phases included in the program.

Phase 1

The first phase lasts for about two weeks. The main goal of this period is to cleanse the whole body of toxins through the detoxification of the liver and reduction of fluid retention. During the first two weeks of the dietary regime, a very restrictive diet must be followed. That includes the intake of raw steamed vegetables and fresh fruits, increased water intake, hot lemon drinks, GLA supplements, and lean protein from beef, chicken, turkey, veal. However, you are not permitted to take alcohol, oil, fats, bread, grains, dairy, herbs and spices, and sugary foods (carbohydrates). Coffee drinking must be gradually reduced as caffeine may be stressful for the liver. The total caloric intake must be summed up only between 1100 to 1200 calories each day.

Phase 2

Also called the ongoing phase, this period may last for weeks until you have attained your desired weight. Carbohydrates may be given in moderation. But the daily caloric intake must be limited to 1500 calories. You may incorporate certain foods during this time like brown rice, peas, and grains.

Phase 3

For maintenance of your desired weight, you must follow a calculated diet, but you may already eat more than 1,500 calories at this point. Dairy products, certain fruits, vegetables, and oils may be reintroduced into your meals.

Benefits

Like most weight loss plans, exercise remains an integral component of the fat flush plan, most especially during the maintenance phase. With the inclusion of exercise, a person following this plan may achieve optimum health in addition to his or her weight loss goals.

Furthermore, the liver gains the most from this diet as fat flush diet plan does not advocate foods and chemicals that may contain toxins that are harmful for the body. The increased consumption of fluids is really helpful in terms of cleansing the urinary tract and the bowels as well. In conclusion, there are relatively a lot of benefits gained by following such diet. But you must make sure to follow the entire regime and continue the meal plans as advised.
